From: "Chuck" Newsgroups: alt.startrek.vs.starwars Subject: [OT] The Dangers of IE5 Date: Thu, 29 Jun 2000 02:04:26 -0500 So I'm going through my help menu trying to get the stupid Java Applets to work on Internet Explorer 5, when what do I find but another Software License Agreement. Of course, most is nonsense, but then I come to this: "You specifically agree not to export or re-export any of the Restricted Components (i) to any country (region) to which the U.S. has embargoed or restricted the export of goods or services, which currently include, but are not necessarily limited to Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Libya, North Korea, Sudan and Syria, or to any national of any such country (region), wherever located, who intends to transmit or transport the Restricted Components back to such country (region); " Okay, nothing really earthshattering so far. But then take a look at this. "(ii) to any person or entity who you know or have reason to know will utilize the Restricted Components in the design, development or production of nuclear, chemical or biological weapons" ROFL! I'd really like to see someone try to build a nuclear bomb using Internet Explorer, that'd be a hoot! I can't get the damn thing to show Java Applets, but I can wipe out Topeka in the blink of an eye! I'd swear it was a joke if I hadn't read it for myself. And what's with this "entity" crap? What, are you going to give IE5 to E.T. or Bigfoot? -- Chuck http://www.sfdebris.com
