Subject: [HUMOR] And now for a very short story Date: Fri, 22 Sep 2000 16:32:54 -0500 From: "Sonn" Newsgroups: alt.startrek.vs.starwars October 4, 2000... As 9:00 PM, Eastern Daylight Time arrives and viewers tune in to Star Trek: Voyager, Capt. Janeway appears on the bridge of Voyager alone. Captain Janeway: Good evening. To you, our most loyal viewers, thank you for returning for our final season. We've learned over the past six years that our program has not lived up to expectations, and while we've done everything from adding a woman in a skin-tight costume to the appearance of a professional wrestler, it seems that we're still not the success of the other Star Trek programs. For this reason, we will be looking to the past successes and building from them for this last season. First, we will look to Deep Space Nine, which managed to recover by adding Worf to its line-up and focusing on war with the Dominion. For this reason we'll be declaring war on a new race every week. Also, Michael Dorn will be joining our cast, although we haven't quite worked out how yet. Second, we will look at the power of The Next Generations finest episode "The Best of Both Worlds," where we see the Enterprise suvive against impossible odds against an unstoppable enemy. We will do that every week. Finally, we will look to the original series, which quite frankly we don't understand the appeal of. Some say its social commentary, but we know that's not the case; instead we will focus on a rough and ready captain who always gets his shirt ripped up, which I guess falls to me. [Captain Janeway grabs and rips her shirt open] [Meanwhile, in a galaxy far far away] Luke: Obi-wan, are you all right? What's wrong? Obi-Wan: I felt a great disturbance in the Force.... as if millions of voices cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced. [looks off with worry] I fear something terrible has happened.
