Well, here is my next attempt at another satire. This first part is kinda weak, mainly because I'm trying to introduce the main characters. Anyway, enough excuses. Tell me what you think... Disclaimer: Star Wars belongs to George Lucas, not me. Star Trek belongs to Paramount, not me. Buffy the Vampire Slayer belongs to Joss Whedon, not me (although I sometime wish she does belong to me :) I cannot make money off of this. Mara Jade, the Borg Slayer Of all the assignments that an Imperial Captain can hope to fill, commanding a Stardestroyer under the Coruscant Defense Fleet can be quite boring. There was no thrill of hunting down Rebels, or pirate. The only thing that the Fleet does is monitor all vessels coming in and out of the system. The Imperial's boredom is a byproduct of the heavy defensive around the Imperial Capital that no one would dare to attack. Until today… "Sir, we're detecting an alien vessel." A bridge officer onboard the ISD Poltergeist reported to Captain Vaan. "What can you make of it?" Vaan asked. "We don't know." The officer explained with a slant of nervous tension, "There is nothing that matches the KDY archives. The vessel is almost the size of an Super Stardestroyer… and appears to be shaped like a… cube." "A cube?" Vaan turned to study this unique vessel. "Sir, the vessel is hailing us." ["We are Borg. You will lower your shields and escort us to your planet where your culture will be assimilated. You distinctiveness will be added to the collective. Resistance is futile."] "A lively bunch." Vaan grinned, he was actually pleased by the Borg's arrival; it gave him the opportunity to say these words: "Target our Turbolasers, and fire!" The Stardestroyer unleashed its fury of green lightning bolt upon the monolithic cube. The Borg's vessel managed to fight against the fleet for only ten minutes before it got shredded into tiny bits of debris. "Report." "The ship has been totally destroyed, but the scanners picked up something unusual." "And that is?" Vaan asked. "We've detected a small unknown energy signature on the ship before it was destroyed." "So?" "We've picked up the same signature on Coruscant a second later." "This is disturbing news. Inform the Emperor." Vaan ordered. **** [The Imperial Palace] In front of the main gate the Emperor's majestic palace, a sleek black landspeeder parked itself beyond the outer courtyard, and the driver opened the door to allow Lord Vader; the Dark Lord of the Sith to exit. The Dark Jedi Knight turns his head down and then towards the driver, "You have pulled too close to the curve." "Yes, m'lord, I thought it would be…" The driver suddenly starts choking to death. "You have failed me for the last time!" **** [The Emperor's Throne Room] "Ah, Lord Vader, I'm so glad you could come on such short notice. I realize it was difficult to disturb you from you extermination of the Jedi Knights." Emperor Palpatine said with his chair facing the sky. "My purpose is to serve you, my master." Vader bowed. Palpatine turned and smiled, "We have ourselves and urgent crisis on Coruscant. A few days ago, an alien ship that called themselves the 'Borg' attacked the Defense Fleet. They however were not successful, but they a strange energy signature has been detect on their ship moment before its destruction and on the planet seconds later. We have reason to believe that the Borg possesses some unique technology that allows them to transport their beings. Now a handful of these drones have infiltrated Imperial City. We need to send out a search party to find these drones and eliminate them." "Very well, my Emperor, I will organize the men myself." "No, you have other matters to attend to. Also, I believe we need an agent less conspicuous." The Emperor suggested, he then tap a button on his chair to call his agent, "Bring me Mara Jade." /"Yes your majesty"/ replied the voice at the other end. "Then, my I ask why I was summoned here?" Vader asked. "I figured you could use a cameo." **** [Mara Jade's Room] The door pitched its buzz several times, unable to get the attention of the teenage redhead, who was too infatuated listening to 'Jedi Rock' on her loud hydrodynamic music system and reading the latest copy of 'Teen Corellan' to even notice the door. That was until it was blown open by the two stormtroopers that marched in. "Hey!" The redhead thrown down her magazine, "You guys ever heard of knocking!" "Mara Jade!" The one stormtrooper announced, "The Emperor requires your presence in the throne room." **** [Emperor's Throne Room, again] "What's taking her so long?" Darth hissed, "I came from another star system and it didn't take me so long." The door suddenly swished itself open, and the girl in question stepped inside, escorted by two stormtroopers. "Greetings, my loyal servant." Palpatine said, as Mara walked in front of the throne. He then waited uncomfortably, "Well?" "Well what?" "Aren't you going to kneel down in front of your Emperor?" Vader advised, not that he cared what the Emperor was going to do if she didn't. "Is this floor clean?" Mara asked, hinting to her clothing, "I just got this outfit, and I don't want to get it dirty." Before she could continue to speak, the Emperor gave her a cold threatening glare, which told her what to do, "Oh! All right." "Rise, my subject." The Emperor gestured, "You know why I summoned you here?" The girl just replied with a blank stare. "You are, at aware of the attack on Coruscant that occurred just yesterday?" "Yeah… yeah, I've seen it on the holonet. Rebel scum." The Emperor and Vader exchanged glances, and then Vader turned to explain the situation. "At nine hundred hours yesterday, a cube-shaped vessel of unknown origin entered the system, at attacked the fleet. We, of course, destroyed the alien ship. However we've detected a strange energy signature on their vessel just before they were destroyed. The exact same energy pattern was detected moments later on the Coruscant. We believe these alien, who called themselves the Borg, have some teleported on the planet, somewhere near Section 56." "You mean, Soldale?" "Yes. What we require from you is to go and investigate. We don't want to send our garrisons because then the public will know." Palpatine gestured (don't ask why), "We want to keep a tight lid on the Borg issue." "Yet, you asked me if I knew anything before hand?" Mara replied. "Anyway, you will go undercover as a student on the Academy's campus located near the Borg's point of infiltration." Palpatine explained, as Vader handed Mara Jade a datapad, "Your code name will be 'Slayer', and once your on-campus you fill meet up with our informant who will brief you. Other than that, everything you need regarding the mission on this datapad." "Wait a minute." Mara studied the datapad, and suddenly became flushed, "These seem to be kinky love notes to Mon Mothma." Vader quickly snatched the pad, thankful that they could not see his embarrassed face. "Wrong datapad." **** Students swarmed all over the campus. Racing to get to class on time, as Imperial have a strict policy on tardiness. There was one girl; Mara Jade was completely lost. "Excuse me, miss, are you lost?" A tall dark-haired stranger tapped the petite redhead on the shoulder. "Am I that obvious?" Mara responded with a smile, "Well, yes, I am. See, I'm sorta new here, and I need to find the Dean's office in order to get registered." "The Dean… aww, you mean that troll, Quark. His office should be on the next floor…" The man explained, "Miss?" "Oh, name's Mara Jade." She introduced, extending her hand, "And you are?" "Grodin Tierce." "Well, nice to you." The girl smiled fondly before she made her way over to the Dean's office. "Wait!" Tierce looked to the ground and then tried to called her, "You forgot your…" He picked up a strange object, trying to figure out what it was, and then assumed it was a: "… flashlight. Strange girl." "Hey! Resent that!" Another voice sneaked up from behind and startled him. Tierce turned around and saw it was his dear friend, Gaeriel Captison. "I wasn't talking about you, Gaery." Tierce turned away and looked down the direction where his new redhead friend left, "I was talking about this new girl." "And that flashlight?" Gaeriel pointed to the object in his hand. "It's hers." Tierce explained, "She dropped it." "What kind of a girl carries a flashlight? A weird looking one at that." The young girl shrugged, "Anyway, we got to get to class. You can find you're friend later." to be continued.... **** -Major Tierce Buffy: "Your logic does *not* resemble our Earth logic." Xander: "Mine is much more advanced." -----------== Posted via Deja News, The Discussion Network ==---------- http://www.dejanews.com/ Search, Read, Discuss, or Start Your Own
