Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum

Through seas of blood, the man did wade Observing death which man hath made Careful steps through misery Retracing bloody history Tears of truth, cries of fear For want of proof that God is here Under a religious spell, man is who invented hell Wandering across the earth The man who was of virgin birth Herod, Pilate, Caesar too Helped to kill this outcast Jew Since then manking hath sought to use This man's name for an excuse To secure their empires vast and grand To slaughter those from foreign lands His life was short his time was was brief Yet he still restored belief In a God some deemed dead In him a religion bred Alas the words he did preach Are not those we now teach Love the sinner loathe the sin Look inside the heart within Love and kindness, compassion care Exist no longer anywhere If he had lived past thirty-three There would be no certainty That those who do invoke his name Could even play their little game Of religious supremacy Under guise of piety Methinks he would have made more clear The message which he carried here If he had lived to older age There might have been another page In the books of history And there would be less misery
