Jerusalem's Lament II
Fury sounds like thunder across the desert plain Cries of anguish ring out shrieks of fear and pain Rivulets of crimson wash this hostile land Bloodied from aggression destroyed by human hand Gunships pierce the silence across the rolling hills Escalating violence a warped contest of wills The crescent and six pointed star symbols of mistrust Neither will relent until the other's dust Birthplace of religion site of origin Ancient tombs and temples all contained within Borders kept secure through violent hostility Nothing can be pure in such ferocity A sacred city lays in turmoil A holy place which you do soil With your zealous blood from your silly war Fighting in a place where our ancestors swore To uphold the basic tenets of the laws he gave One of which was not to put another in his grave I have read no provisions in the basic ten Except for those decisions clearly made by men Thou shall not kill is what it says I did not see the word "unless" Nor did I see a special clause That gives credence to your cause The city can be shared through common decency Mankind can be spared if only they could see The goodness in each other the pureness in our heart Instead of letting hatred tear us all apart
