Chuck says: The piece de resistance, the ultimate mother of all trolls, TJ is the standard against which all others are measured. His acronym is in fact longer than either of his names: TOWNMNBS, The One Whose Name May Not Be Spoken. Timothy Jones brought in a cornucopia of negative character traits to the group. Let's see, he made up his own rules of evidence (and changed them as it suited him), he refused to conceed arguments, he regularly would deny his own remarks (even changing them when he was quoting himself), he condescended to his opponents, he regularly insulted the opposition while refusing to receive the same treatment, he had the sense of humor of a wet rag, he believed that he was always right, and he constantly resorted to strawman attacks. So bad was he that pretty much the entire newsgroup, Star Trek and Star Wars alike, dropped him in their killfiles and refused to speak to him. His absence has only made the group better, and he is still the target of mockery and repeated slayings in humorous fanfics.

UPDATE 6/16/03: Recently returned to ASVS; got his ass handed to him by Mike Wong; began changing his handle and email address to evade killfilters; dropped all semblance of civility; still has the same old crap arguments.

UPDATE 5/10/05: Timmy Lives! His brother Martin showed up on ASVS and shared some photographs of good ol' Timbo. He also shared some anecdotes about his brother. He also suggested quite convincingly that - get this - Timmy was none other than mike3! He'll remain a separate entry because that was just a new level of dumb.

Martin Jones says: ...there was a time T. Jones was a great guy. Oooo...from about 1988 to about 1990 we had a sort of synergy. He would always invite me into his room and we'd watch some video like hardware wars or some funny underground Steve Martin recording he got. We grew up in a low income housing neighborhood and entertainment was important. That, and getting an education because ma had too many bad breaks (divorce, a not-to-high IQ, heart attack and then a stroke..disabling her).

There is also another brother. (Rob Jones). I'm the oldest, Rob was 2nd, and Tim was the baby of the family. When we were much younger, when I was a pre-teen, I did pick on him and boss him around...hey, hormones did most of the talking then. If you've ever seen the Perl Jam video 'Jeremy' , it's like Eddie Vender used T. Jones for research material. Anyway, I digress. My brother Rob got involved and then married the most brash, sexually insecure woman I've ever met. During the time she stayed at our place, she told Tim off. Her staying with us (EVERYONE could hear Rob & this woman having sex in our little duplex) and the constant battle for a seperating lifestyle...T. Jones mindset became one where 'he wins...no matter what.' Rob's girl had the same mindset. T. Jones is the kind of guy that, at least back in the 1980's, would watch a movie like 'Mad Max' , then later, when I bought my 1st motorcycle, would say, 'Ugh! Why did you buy a motorcycle? Only violent criminal gangs ride them!'

You get the idea. He is impressionable, prejudiced, niave, insecure, and can be easily suckered. He buys a cell phone, doesn't read the terms and conditions, negotiates with my mom that he needs the charges attached to her phone bill (he doesn't have a credit card or even an act. with Qwest), racks up $700 on the cell phone, and can't foot the bill. I did. Sent $500 to teh phone company and while mom puts in $200 to cover the rest, Rob Jones helps ( mom is on social security ) with food , supplies, what-have-you.

After that, T. Jones became a true blue asshole. We are talking threats. extreme action like calling the police because I move back with my mom...and Tim is still there (this is around 2002) I needed a place to stay after leaving my wife (another long perilous story- don't ask)...Now I'm not on the lease, back then. The dickhead, T. Jones, once again, doesn't bother to read the fine print, and that I'm allowed a visit/stay of up to 2 weeks with extensions afterwards with SHA approval...I had only been there 3 days. The cops had far better things to do and racked the incidient as just another 'paranoid/asshole/civilian' call. This happened while I was at work. SPD didn't even bother to come to my workplace to question me...

SPD considers Timithy Bruce Jones a nutcase...and it's on file.

After that, verbal threats aimed at my mom by T Jones and finally domestic violence commited by T. Jones to P Jones...we be gone. He STILL has a girlfriend...a saw her once and she looks to be the most niave human being I've ever seen. Her name's Julie and she attends the U of W.
